1. Introduction
Welcome to Trace. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your data is handled securely and transparently. This Privacy Policy explains how the Trace Chrome Extension and associated web services collect, use, and protect your information. By using Trace, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. What Data We Collect
To provide you with our AI-powered visual debugging service, we collect the following limited information:
- Personally Identifiable Information: Your email address and basic profile information when you authenticate via OAuth (GitHub/Google).
- Authentication Information: Secure OAuth tokens used to maintain your session.
- Web History & Website Content: When you actively engage Trace on a webpage, we capture the URL, document title, and the structural DOM content of that specific active tab to provide context to the AI.
- User Activity: Console logs and network requests from the active tab you are explicitly debugging, captured via the Chrome DevTools Protocol.
* Note: We do not continuously monitor your web browsing. Data is only captured for the specific tab you are actively debugging when you invoke the extension.
3. How We Use Your Data
The data we collect is used strictly for the core functionality of the Trace extension:
- To authenticate your account and manage your active session.
- To provide the AI debugging agent with the necessary context (DOM, console errors, network requests) to answer your queries and generate solutions.
- To store your chat history and debugging sessions securely so you can resume them later.
4. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy Compliance
Trace complies fully with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use or transfer your data for purposes that are unrelated to the item's core functionality.
- We do not use or transfer your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
5. Data Security
We prioritize the security of your data. All data transmitted between the extension and our backend services is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS. Data stored in our database (such as session histories and authentication tokens) is encrypted at rest.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, modify, or delete your personal data at any time. If you wish to delete your account and all associated debugging history, please contact our support team. You can also revoke OAuth access at any time through your Google or GitHub account settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
